Geoghan whacked in prison I don't favor mauling and torture, but simply killing the pedophile priest Geoghan certainly saves taxpayers a lot of money, and saves any more children ever being molested. Besides, imagine what hellish torments Geoghan must have been suffering in his own guilty mind. I'm sure he was a victim, too. Consider it a mercy killing.
On the other hand, this undoubtedly makes some of his victims feel guilty. Though logically that's wrong, it's unavoidable as psychology. That's truly unfortunate.
Some have also argued that this will only make the Catholic church more resistant to co-operating with civil authorities in these matters. However, it seems that they could hardly be much less helpful than they have been so far. Besides, that's why God made subpoenas.
Moreover, perhaps this story- and some nasty morgue photos of Geoghan- will give maybe a subtle HINT to the next jackass priest with a yen to molest a few hundred young boys.
Overall, I have to say I'm about tempted to look up info on the guy who strangled Geoghan and write him a thank you letter- and send in a few bucks on his commissary fund.
Finally, as a public information service, if you are considering going on a kiddie rape spree, it would behoove you to pass over the Olsen house. If there's a worse ass-kicker than your typical Hebrew, it would be a Hebrew Hillbilly. And if there's a worse terror than that, it would be a hillbilly Jewish mother like our Dawn protecting her young.
