Glenn Miller's 100th birthday Glenn Miller was born 100 years ago today, on March 1, 1904 in Clarinda, Iowa.
He led the most popular big band of the swing era. He disbanded his orchestra, however, when WWII came to join the army and entertain the troops full time. He died December 14, 1944 in a plane crash. He was a big enough deal to have no less than Jimmy Stewart starring in his biopic.
