To explicitly state the obvious, these external links go to interesting and provocative websites, but they speak for themselves. I don't necessarily agree with anything they say - especially that no-goodnik Richard Marcus.

New Album Releases, 6-19-2007: White Stripes rule with an iron fist, but beware a Bon Jovi in the grass BEST SONGS OF 2007 It is indeed a glorious day in White Stripes Nation. Soon the revolution will come and the Bush regime will face revolutionary justice. On that day, our military junta backed by a seven nation army will seize control and name Jack White El Presidente for life. Viva la revolution!
The future King David prepared for leadership by writing the Psalms. Likewise our leader Jack White this week continues to build the foundation for his future rule by releasing more timeless musical poetry for the ages, Icky Thump. It is the current #1 seller at Amazon, which is only right.
It will take me awhile before I'm able to decode the intensely coded revolutionary instructions enough to give this album a proper review. But on the basis of a couple of listens, you might start with "You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)" for the most straightforward catchy pop song.
The album generally seems to be his most guitar oriented, and reflects well Jack's still growing technical skills. He can play a lot fancier now than on their early albums. In that line, he makes a particularly strong impression raining down a preachin' blues judgment in the "Catch Hell Blues." "If you're testing God and lying to his face, you're gonna catch hell." Hear that, George W Bush?
Meanwhile, Enemies of The People continue slithering through the grass, leaving slimy slug trails of deviated preversion against any decent system of Geometry and Theology. In short, Bon Jovi has a new album, Lost Highway. If somehow weak judgment had at any point convinced you that Jon Bon Jovi was not in fact in league with Satan, I'll note that this album is officially designated as a "country" album. Just being Bon Jovi wasn't bad enough, so he's going to crowd into Garth Brooks territory. I'm just saying that the dude is way overdue for a trip to Camp Mimi.
In other parts of the kingdom, Brad Paisley releases his fifth album, 5th Gear. He's sold a bunch of records and I'm sure I've heard a couple of them, but I can't remember a thing about any of them. Judging by the hat, presumably he's a "country" singer. Still, this album boasts the participation of Little Jimmy Dickens. If Jimmy Dickens thinks he's a good country singer, then maybe I'm missing something.
