COMMENTS: Ol' Tom T offers a countrified prescription for a long life. The story is about an old farmer layed up deathly ill in the hospital, but too pre-occupied with his work to worry about being sick. "The doctors tried to tell him that he may not live at all, but all he ever talked about was 'Who's gonna feed them hogs.'" The doctors thought he was a goner, but in a few days he got dressed and went back to work.
The melody for the verses is simple and to the point, like the person being described. The chorus is so persistent as to become compulsive. I can just hear the guy repeating his words over and over like a mantra until the words have become music, picked up melody and a cadence, until the rhythm of his own words has picked him up and carried him back to work.
Also, there're bonus points here for the kazoo rooting around the bottom of the record like a big fat hog that hasn't eaten for a week.
