SONG TITLE: THE LITTLE LADY PREACHER

PERFORMER: TOM T HALL

SONGWRITER: TOM T HALL

YEAR OF RELEASE:

COMMENTS: Old Tom T's got a million of 'em, I tell ya. Did you hear the one about the job he used to have as a kid playing bass for a hot, fiery young lass who preached on the local radio, and the bad old cussin' drinkin' smokin' guitar player she loved?  Seems poor jealous young Tom came to the studio one morning and they were gone. "Seems she and Brother Luther had a call. I had to face the heartbreak, unemployment and all."  Notice all the little details of their looks and behavior, such as the sister's preaching style.

Dadgummit, but this is another one of those songs where a critic will find himself writing all about the words - partly because these words are so well chosen, and partly because words are so much easier to address than the actual music. The words are attached to a good catchy uptempo country gospel tune with a nice long, flowing melody.

It also has a strong uptempo rhythm. Hell, you could dance to this on Saturday night. Those piano chords really rock.
