The Taming of the Shrew

1967 movie with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton

It seems crazy [this is Hollywood we're talking about though], but it almost seems like Liz Taylor and Richard Burton were destined to fall in love in order to be able to give properly motivated performances together in movies - especially this movie of William Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew.  They were widely considered to have been particularly acting out their relationship in this movie.  Most especially, Elizabeth Taylor's performance of Katharina's final flamboyant public declaration of devotion and obedience to Burton's Petruchio really looked like it came from the heart. 

So either that scene was the rest of us like peeping Tom's looking into their most private souls or Liz Taylor was the greatest actress of all time.  Or perhaps a little from Column A and a little from Column B.
