I wouldn't want to ask people to just give me money cause they like my website, but do please take a quick look at Barger's Boutique. You might find yourself a little something-something for 2 or 3 bucks that you just can't resist! Any of the round images you find around MoreThings will get you to an Amazon page to buy my stuff and help ol' Al keep the lights on.
Links
To explicitly state the obvious, these external links go to interesting and provocative websites, but they speak for themselves. I don't necessarily agree with anything they say - especially that no-goodnik Richard Marcus.

Second Thoughts on Rosa Parks The following is a comment I posted on a blog entry by Ms Jazz:
Ms Jazz, you're posting from a two year old article of mine, so I'd like to add a couple of afterthoughts if I may.
For one thing, I agree with your other posters that Rosa Parks indeed did a very fine thing in 1955, and deserved praise for her actions. That's good.
One thing though: You pile as much praise and deification on ANY human being as Rosa Parks got, you're inviting arrogance. I suspect that if I had half a century of everybody telling me that the sun rose and set in my butt, I might forget that I put my pants on one leg at a time like everyone else.
It's my intention to use the same standards of judgment with all people, black, brown, white, congressman, saint, civil rights icon, or the poor boy next door. I would not appreciate what seems like haughtiness as I saw it coming from anyone, even if they have done good things as Rosa Parks certainly did.
That said, I look at that column now, and it seems a little harsh even to me. I fear I was being overly harsh to a very old woman. She was apparently clinically diagnosed with dementia a year after I wrote this. Perhaps she wasn't really steering the ship by this point.
In particular, my main beef was the abuse of the legal system with the Outkast lawsuit. Stuff I've read in the days since her passing would suggest that this might have been motivated by the financial interests of her handlers. At this point, I wonder how much she actually understood the issues and what was being done in her name.
I do not appreciate the stuff that she was doing in her last few years, or what was at least being done under her name, but I probably should have cut a 90 year old woman some slack.
