I wouldn't want to ask people to just give me money cause they like my website, but do please take a quick look at Barger's Boutique. You might find yourself a little something-something for 2 or 3 bucks that you just can't resist! Any of the round images you find around MoreThings will get you to an Amazon page to buy my stuff and help ol' Al keep the lights on.
Links
To explicitly state the obvious, these external links go to interesting and provocative websites, but they speak for themselves. I don't necessarily agree with anything they say - especially that no-goodnik Richard Marcus.

New Album Releases, 9-25-2007: Joni Mitchell, Foo Fighters, Steve Earle, Brian Setzer, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis Hey, hey kiddies, but there sure are a lot of big name new album releases this week. The big one is Shine, which is the first new Joni Mitchell album in nine years. It is also her first album on the Starbucks Hear Music label. Reckon what's she got to say for the last decade of her life? Reckon what kind of song might she have written about the "Night of the Iguana"? The album ends with a song called "If," based on the Rudyard Kipling poem.
I note that the album is the current #4 seller at Amazon, which seems pretty good for someone not typically thought of as a big commercial powerhouse. Plus, consider how many of these bad boys she must be hawking at Starbucks.
Also on the Joni Mitchell front, River: The Joni Letters come from Herbie Hancock, who gets help on these Joni Mitchell covers from among others Norah Jones and Miss Joni herself. I would be particularly interested to hear what he's done with "The Jungle Line," long my Joni fave rave.
Steve Earle has left us red state yokels behind to move to New York city. This is just about right for him; Earle would be a perfect addition to your radical chic cocktail party. Washington Square Serenade constitutes his NYC coming out, with New York lyrical themes and such. Also, it was produced by Dust Brother John King, so you should be expecting somewhat fancier and more electronic sounds than previous.
Last thing before he retired from the studio for six years, in 1975 Miles Davis put out the album Down on the Corner. This album was fairly heavily edited, produced and electronically manipulated. The original organic recordings from those sessions are the backbone of the six CD set The Complete On the Corner Sessions. That makes this the eighth and final comprehensive Columbia records box set of Davis studio work for them from the 1950s to 1970s.
