Premiere of Social Security ads
My first television ads were broadcast this afternoon. "Let's Fix This" addresses the utter economic disaster known as the Social Security system. DOWNLOAD THE AD
Here's the script:
Hello, I’m Al Barger, Libertarian for US Senate. I paid for and approve of this message. If we’re going to throw executives from Tyco and Enron in jail for squandering a billion dollars of investor’s money, then Evan Bayh and most of Congress should be right in there with them, cause they’ve squandered tens of thousands of billions of dollars of YOUR Social Security money.
Now there’s not one thin dime put away for future retirees.

That's just a thirty second ad, so let me extend my remarks a bit.
For many years now, Congress has routinely pillaged Social Security funds. Every cent that didn't go to pay current retirees has been squandered, tens of thousands of billions of dollars. That's a thousand times worse than anything done by Enron. Now the baby boomers are ready to retire, and there's not one dime of money put away for any of that.
If any private company treated your retirement investments this way, the company would have been shut down. Further, the entire board of directors would be led away on a perp walk on their way to jail.
Of course, Congress hasn't actually done anything illegal, in that they are the ones who make the laws. The law is whatever the government says it is. So when the government rips you for 15% of your income in FICA taxes and simply blows it, that's perfectly cool.
Now, Evan Bayh isn't any more responsible for this than any other congressman. Nonetheless, he's been there six years. By now, he's just as responsible as any of them. In just that time, at least a trillion dollars has been purely squandered from the Social Security tax surpluses that should have been being put away or invested. Evan surely holds culpability as one of the 100 people all this spending and taxing goes through.
Evan Bayh has been right there voting for these novel length fictions laughably called "budgets." Every day the Social Security fund is getting ripped for most of a billion dollars. Every day. Evan has been there most of a decade, and has done NOTHING to even attempt to fix this hemorraging.
What Evan Bayh has participated in might not be illegal, but it is certainly criminal mismanagement.
I wonder what Evan Bayh would have to say for himself? Maybe one of you could ask him, cause he's not returning my calls.
Yet the supposed conservative Republican Marvin Scott favors this new Medicare drug benefits scheme. This means adding a whole new huge entitlement item on top of the entitlements that we already have no way to pay for.
If anything then, on entitlement reform the Republican has even less credibility than the Democrat. Really this goes not just for this race, but for the parties nationally as well.
