Trudy Monk's First Haunting Picture Gallery 4

Four years before the beginning of the timeline of the Monk series, the protagonist's wife had been murdered by a car bomb. For 12 long years Adrian Monk will obsess over this, for despite being the world's greatest detective he cannot solve the one case that truly matters to him. This is the basic emotional dynamic underlying the eight years of the series until he eventually solves the murder in the last episode.

These 18 images are from the pilot episode "Mr. Monk and the Candidate" in which the whole Trudy premise is laid out. There is our very first glimpse of Trudy, the wedding photo on the table next to the beautiful skyline shot of San Francisco he sees first thing in the opening credits. There are shots of old newspaper clippings about the murder that Adrian obsesses over all night before passing out to have a brief vision of Trudy (played in the first season by Stellina Rusich). Finally, the first of many series visits to her grave and the fateful B5 parking space, and the series' stage is set.
